Yesterday at workA lil 6 year old girl came up to me and said
"I'm so happy Obama is the president."
I replied
"yeah, me too!"
Cuz I am and plus its good to know she knows enough to be up on politics & current events.
Then she says
"I'm so proud for you! Congradulations!"
I put on a fake smile and said
"Thanks"
2 THINGS WRONG WITH THIS STATEMENT
1)What does she mean by "I'm proud of you" as in you ppl as in you black people?&
2)The congradulations took it overboard....like I had something to do with it. Like I voted for him but her congradulations was took more so as congradulations black person your man (Obama) won!
So idk how to take this?
[Note the lil girl is WHITE]
Was this a simple congradulations? and I'm taking this too far out of context? or was this lil girl raised a bit prejudice with that racist remark?
